The Sopwith Strutter A1071 was involved in an aerial combat between Ypres and Potijze, at 11.15 a.m.; was shot down by the Albatros D.III of Lt Josef Flink Ja 18; out of control, fell into Ypres Moat, wings folded, wrecked; Bowden was the pilot; his observer, 2Lt DB Stevenson was also killed in action (and is buried in Lijssenthoek)
