Enrolled as a private soldier; Sgt ES Botterell departed the Battalion on 27 Sept 1915 for cadet school; Lt Botterell was loaned to the 13th Bn (Royal Highlanders of Montreal) when the Brigade, to which both the 15th and the 13th Battalions belonged, was back in the Ypres salient; May 1916 appointed OC (Officer Commanding) No. 3 Company.
Death
- Shot by a sniper while in the front line trenches of his company. He passed a gap in the trenches and was struck.
