- To France 16 August 1914; promoted corporal when enlisting, n°28030; posted to the Motor Cyclist Section of 2nd Signal Coy, Royal Engineers; appointed acting sergeant in September 1915; transferred to the Dunstable Signal Depot in October 1916; transferred to n°1 Royal Artillery in January 1917; from Officer Cadet to 2nd Lt; joined the 323 Siege Btty in February 1917 and went back to France in April 1917; posted to the RFC in July 1917; appointed Flying Officer, Observer in December 1917 with the 10th Squadron in Abele;;
Death
- Wing of AW FK 8 B320 went off in the air; crashed close to the airbase in Abele; 2Lt Garbett was the pilot; he was also killed and is buried in Lijssenthoek
- To n°2 Canadian CCS, compound fracture of the skull, died of wounds
