  • Son of Thomas Henry and Priscilla Comer (née Fletcher), of 92, Mainridge, Boston, Lincs.
  • Tower Road School, Skirbeck, Boston; Boston Grammar School from 1906, where he won many prizes for being an exceptional student. He was also keen on sports at the school, including cricket, football, swimming, tennis, and rowing; later playing cricket for Boston Town Cricket Club and Sleaford Cricket Club. From 1911, Thomas attended St. Mark’s College, Chelsea, London, for two years, and qualified as a schoolmaster.
  • Memorials which include Thomas can still be found in Boston, Lincolnshire, in Wide Bargate, Holy Trinity Church, St. Nicholas Church, and Boston Grammar School.

Death

  • The death of Gunner T. Comer, of this Battery, which occurred at 3.45p.m. on September 23rd, as a result of gunshot wounds received at 1pm the same day whilst assisting the Captain to take observations of the enemy’s gunfire.
    They had together climbed up to the rafters of a ruined house and were observing between the tiles when a high explosive shell burst immediately over them.
