M C ' For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to
duty. When the barrage had got far ahead
of the attacking troops on account of the bad
state of the ground, he took command of
men of different battalions and organised a
determined attack on two '' pill-boxes''
which were holding up the advance. He got
within thirty yards in spite of heavy fire.
Being then stopped by wire, he consolidated
the poeition, and carried out a valuable reconnaissance.' (LG 19/04/1918)
