The Chinese delegation made a tour of the Ypres Salient. They paid a visit to Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery and showed special interest in the Chinese plot. A commemoration was held near the headstone of SUNG SHOU YUAN (plot 34 A7). Li Junqing honoured his district companion from Chángshān Xiàn, Shandong. The ceremony consisted of the presenting of cookies and the burning of cigarettes. Maotai, a Chinese liquor, was poured out over the headstone. (Source: Philip Vanhaelemeersch)
The Chinese delegation also visited the Chinese Labour Corps exhibition ‘Toiling for War' in IFFM and participated in a symposium . In the town hall at Poperinge they attended the solemn inauguration of the ‘Busseboom memorial'. The statue and memorial plaque will decorate the Chinese garden which is to be laid out in 2012. The garden is situated in the hamlet of Busseboom, a place which accommodated one of the major Chinese labour camps during WW1.
